Returns the number of characters in a text string, including spaces.
Compatibility: All Excel versions
Syntax
=LEN(text)
Example
=LEN(A1)
When to Use It
Use LEN to check the length of an entry — e.g. confirming a product code is always exactly 8 characters, or spotting entries with an unexpected extra space.
