Basic Sales Dashboard
Summarize a list of raw sales transactions into a clean, chart-backed monthly overview.
Skills You'll Use
Instructions
Starting from a raw transaction log (Date, Salesperson, Region, Amount), build a summary section that uses SUMIFS to total sales by both Region and Month:
=SUMIFS(D:D,C:C,"West",A:A,">="&DATE(2026,1,1),A:A,"<"&DATE(2026,2,1))
Then insert a PivotTable from the same raw data to cross-tabulate sales by Salesperson and Region, and add a simple column chart showing total sales per month.
Use XLOOKUP to pull each salesperson's region into a separate leaderboard table without retyping it manually.
Sample Data
| Date | Salesperson | Region | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-01-04 | Priya | West | 4200 |
| 2026-01-11 | Marcus | East | 3100 |
| 2026-01-19 | Priya | West | 2800 |
Challenge
Add a "Top Salesperson" cell that uses a formula (not manual lookup) to automatically identify whoever has the highest total sales, and updates if the underlying data changes.
Expected Result
A dashboard-style sheet with a SUMIFS-driven monthly/regional summary, a PivotTable, a chart, and an automatically-updating top performer callout.
