Averages the numbers in a range that meet a single condition.
Compatibility: All Excel versions
Syntax
=AVERAGEIF(range, criteria, [average_range])
Example
=AVERAGEIF(A:A,"West",B:B)
When to Use It
Use AVERAGEIF to find a typical value within one category — e.g. the average sale amount, but only for the West region.
